the symphony: a proud moment

So, the fourth grader came home yesterday, quite excited (as usual) telling me, "Mom! We went to the symphony today and it was awesome! They played a lot of really cool songs."

me: "ummm, today? Today was the symphony?"

Rooney: "Yeah, and it was cool."

me: "Weren't you supposed to wear nice clothes to the Symphony?"

Proto: "I saw kids at school wearing church suits!"

Rooney: "Yeah, but I didn't want to."

me: "Did all the other kids dress up?"

Rooney: "Yeah, pretty much."

me: "So you were the only kid there not dressed up?"

Rooney: "Yep!"

A proud moment for me and for him.

I knew he was going to the Symphony sometime, but forgot to write it on the calendar. He knew he was going yesterday, and didn't mention it, knowing that I'd forgotten. He knew, I'd make him wear nice clothes, if I knew. I'm sure his teacher is wondering what in the world is going on at our house.........I wonder the same thing. Often. ( The above picture is his classy symphony outfit.)
