weekly 2015.10.18
The kids only had three days of school this week because of UEA. On Thursday, we went to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. I’m determined to see all of Thanksgiving Point’s features before our passes expire. The three little kids went on the pony ride and we all went on the wagon ride and we saw the animals. It was a fun activity, but it’s much smaller than I remember. Then we went to the Dinosaur Museum again because the big kids didn’t get to go last week.
On Friday, we went to BYU. We went to the MOA, then to the bookstore which is now called the BYU Store (weird) where the boys got a few treasures and Bekah got a cheerleader outfit that she’s planning on wearing for Halloween. We eventually found the Rose Marie Reid vintage swimsuit exhibit at the library, which is the whole reason we went to the MOA, but it wasn’t there. We met Rachel when she was done with work and went to eat lunch with her at the Cannon Center. The kids loved the Cannon Center. They all got pizza and sugar cereal, and tons of sugar drinks and desserts. I looked over at one point and Harry was eating Captain Crunch with chocolate milk in it. (YUCK) We had Abby and Sara with us too, and after eating we went to let the girls see Rachel’s dorm room. It was a super fun day. I always love to be on campus and it’s especially beautiful in the fall with all the trees changing color. Bekah was so happy to see Rachel, she could not stop hugging her and hanging onto her leg. We left Thomas, Spencer and Harry there and they met Stick to go the football game.
Rachel also went to the football game with her friends, and our boys saw her on the jumbotron two different times. After the game, she and four friends came to Draper and had a sleep over at her roommate’s house which is in the neighborhood next to ours. Why did they do this? I don’t know. Yesterday afternoon they came to our house for a quick visit and lunch. We enjoyed meeting them all. Our boys seemed flustered by the group of loud, laughing girls in the kitchen, but they managed to survive the occasion.
Harry, Bekah and Spencer decided to sleep outside on our tramp Thursday night. They made it until about 3am, when they got too cold and came inside. Last night they were determined to sleep outside again. They set up tents and it’s a good thing since it was pouring rain. I didn’t think they’d want to actually sleep in the rainy weather, but they did. I’m pretty sure they’re going to sleep outside again.
We got most of our garden cleared out this week; we have just a few tomato plants and zucchini plants left. I’ve started clearing out the flower beds too. I suppose winter is on its way. At least the kids are hoping it is, so they can quit mowing the lawn.
Harry got cut from the Bantam team on the final night. He was pretty sad about it, but got over it fairly quickly. I was just happy that he went as far as he did, especially since he wasn’t playing his best.
Over and out.
