winner winner chicken....soup
There was a cooking contest at our ward party Friday night. Stick walked away with 2nd place for his "homemade chicken noodle soup." Afterwards the judge asked him, "Where did you get those noodles that were in your soup?" He answered, "I made them." To which, she replied, "You DID? I would have given you first place, if I'd of known that!"
For his homemade noodle efforts he won a fancy red ribbon, a Snicker's candy bar and a gift card for the movies.

In other gift card related news, a couple of weekends ago we were at a SEA* function where they had a raffle for Lowe's and Olive Garden gift cards. We were given 2 raffle tickets just by attending the dinner but then they gave us the option of buying more raffles tickets at a dollar a piece, with the money earned going towards an engineering scholarship. So Stick bought twenty more tickets.
We won the very first gift card, $25 at Lowes. Then by the end of the raffle, out of about 12 gifts cards awarded, we had THREE. $50 total to Lowes and $25 to Olive Garden.
I told Stick I couldn't believe how lucky he was, he told me, "There was no luck involved. It was pure statistics**!"
Just the kind of thing you'd expect an engineer to say!

**There were only about 80 people at the function, so the fact that we had 22 raffle tickets, and the rest of the people were too cheap to donate dollars for more tickets means that we won 3 of the 12 gift cards!

He MADE the noodles?? Come again? What's the now??? Serious??
I happen to know you have "opinions" about Olive Garden, so if you need someone to take that card off your hands, you just let me know, deal?
Lucky little statisticians!
