home/hair decor
We bought our kitchen chairs about 10 years ago. Now, ten years later, the upholstered seats look like they're 84 years old, and were used to clean the bathroom of a BART station. (See chair on the left of the picture).
With my own two eyes I've watched most or all of my children wipe sticky, gummy, grimy, greasy and food covered hands on the chairs.
Ick.
I recovered them today using "Crypton Fabric."
I read about it on DesignMom and decided that if it really had Cryptonite in it, (joke) maybe, just maybe it could survive in our house.
Shopping online, I discovered that Crypton fabric costs $40 a yard. And, we have 6 chairs. Still, I almost justified the cost and was ready to just buy the expensive stuff, because really, the chairs are SO disgusting!
Then I happened to look on EBay. Two hours later I had purchased all the fabric I needed for a grand total of $9.99! Yay me! (Ok, fine, I will admit that I paid $10.00 for shipping, but it's still a huge deal!)
I like the fabric a lot. It doesn't exactly match our current decor, but the price was right and I think (hope!) it will be kid friendly.
Time will tell, my friends, time will tell.

In other news, Houdini did his own hair today.
How can you tell?
These giant gobs of goop are left after I wiped it down heartily with a large paper towel.
Lookin' good man, lookin' good!

I stand in awe again at your mad do-it-yourself skills. The chairs look great. Let me know if that fabric lives up to its claims...
