Maui: Day 1

So we went to Hawaii.
Again.

Is it weird that in my 43 years I never went to Hawaii once, and now I've been twice this year?

Yes, it is.

But once again, when an acquaintance offers a condo in Maui, you say,
"Yes thank you, we would love to stay in your condo!"

The only time Stick could really manage to miss work was over Labor Day weekend. So we jumped on a plane on Wednesday and headed West over the deep blue sea. (I'm feeling poetic today.)

Plane selfie (us-ie?). Also, I look freaky so I'm not exactly sure why I'm posting this picture.

After our layover in LA, we were happy to see that the flight to Maui had seats with lots of leg room.

Until a family came and sat across the aisle with a dog and a toddler.

This picture doesn't really show how big the dog was. It was really big, and for the life of me I don't know how that dog flew for 6 hours without eating and um, you know going.....

It cracked me up as it stared at Stick eating his food. In the end, the dog was no hassle at all, but the toddler? Yikes. Some people could use parenting classes.

We arrived in Maui at night, so we drove to the condo in the dark, obviously.

And as I mentioned in my weekly, it was so hot I thought I might possibly die.

During the time we were there, they had record breaking heat and humidity.

Not awesome.

We stayed in a condo in Kihei called Kamaole Sands. It was a nice condo, clean and comfortable. There was a tiny air conditioner that we turned on immediately, but it took about two days for the condo to finally cool down.

You could see the beach from the back patio, so we were close.

It was a short walk down through the (blazing hot) parking lot, across a street, through a park and then we were at the beach. It worked perfectly fine for the two of us, but if we'd had our kids with us, it would have been a pain.

The beach was called Kamaole III, it was beautiful and warm.

This Hawaii thing could be addicting.
