my reign is over

About 6 months ago, I posted about the ongoing clothes battle I have with the boys, and about how nice it was that Houdini still didn't care and let me dress him as I please. Well, those days are over. Things have slowly been unraveling over the past week, and today tops it off. I am officially "not allowed" to have an opinion on his outfits. Demonstrated by the following picture:

Notice he is wearing one sweatshirt, topped by one football jersey, topped by one t-shirt and one pair of sweatpants, topped by one pair of shorts. Where did I go wrong?

In other news, we had the Cub Scout "Pine Wood Derby" last night. Rooney was thrilled and had a great time. Stick and I were considerably less enthused about the event. Stick and Rooney went to a lot of care and detail to make sure they followed all the rules regarding weight, wheels, graphite, etc. Once we got there the Derby was basically a free for all. No one cared what the cars weighed, the track was just a slab of wood that the cars fell off of at the end, and the racing was a crazy mix of actual scouts and anyone who brought a vehicle with wheels. Complete chaos. The most important thing was that it was fun for Rooney and we recognize that. We do have great Scout leaders who are dedicated to their jobs, something that is rare these days. I guess, it just wasn't what we thought it would be. It was a good learning experience for us, next year we'll be ready!
