juggling the rules
Yesterday I was feeling overly energetic. I went to Target. I went to WalMart (who, by the way, had better Thanksgiving tablecloths than Target! Shocker I know.) I came home and started (what felt like) 52 loads of laundry. I started more painting on our bead board project.......That's about the time all the balls I was juggling started falling down down DOWN.
Hootis came home from school sick, the boys came home and needed to be taken to Scouts. Dishes were rapidly piling up in the kitchen* and I had to tell Brick about 57 times to get working already! I was still painting. The littles got up from nap. I was still painting. I had to tell** Brick to NOT put his hand on the freshly painted wall. Still painting (and re-painting). Eight loads of laundry still waiting to be folded. Still painting. Kids are hunGRY! Oh yeah, dinner. Stick is gone for the night with the Scouts. German Pancakes it is! Still painting. Oh yeah, book club. Ahem, still painting. Hurry and put littles to bed. Go to book club smelling like Maple Syrup (and probably paint). Book club fun, although I thought the book was odd***. Come home thinking about finishing painting but seriously too tired. Annnd, too tired to clean up the mess.
So I wake up today to a giant mess in the kitchen and 52 loads of laundry to be dealt with.
Note to self: DO not attempt any other project but laundry on Laundry Day. What? 52 loads of laundry isn't enough to do?
Note to self #2: You have a veeery leeeetle window for home projects. It's called "Nap Time." Do not try and work outside of this window or we all suffer. ie. pancakes for dinner.
Note to self #3: The bead board looks amazing. Sometimes you have to ignore the rules!
*If he can't manage to get the dishwasher emptied in the 2.5 hours in the morning before school then he "earns" all the dishes for the day that are piling up waiting to go into the dishwasher. I'm not sure if this method is actually teaching action/consequence or just driving me batty.
**May or may not have involved yelling.

I've read that book. Yes, odd.....but I liked it. It was deep, if you think about it. I would have liked to hear what they said about it.
