I’m not sure what happened this week except for soccer, soccer, and more soccer. Spencer had a tournament in Roy so we went there four days in a row. And while I enjoy watching Spencer play I have to admit I’m getting a little tired of Roy and the drive there and back. They played in the championship game against the same ol’ team they’ve battled with the whole summer. With ten minutes to go, the score was 4-1, us, and then we absolutely fell apart and they won the game 5-4. Super disappointing.
Aaron and Thomas went to Varsity scout camp this week. They said they had a fun time even though they came home a half a day early. I guess they packed up everything on Friday and then decided to just come home instead of spending the last night.
Harry tried real hard to give himself a concussion yesterday. He jumped up to hang on the basketball rim and his hands slipped off. He fell down, landing on his head and back on the driveway. He was super dizzy and sore, but didn’t really have any other signs of a concussion. But then for quite a while afterwards he couldn’t hear out of one of his ears. We don’t know if that was associated with his injury or not, but today his ear seems to be better. Sometimes I think it’s a wonder that kids survive childhood intact.
Rachel has another interview for a cashier job at BYU in the morning. I think she will be better prepared this time. A class she’s needed to fill into her schedule had an opening right when she was online the other day, so she was able to get it, despite the fact that the class was full and had a huge waiting list. She has five weeks ‘till BYU, a fact that makes me so happy for her and so sad for me.
Speaking of kids leaving, our friend, Taylor C. had his mission farewell today. He leaves for the Guatemala MTC on Tuesday and then after 6 weeks, to El Salvador/Belize. In the time we’ve lived here we’ve seen a LOT of missionaries come and go, but Taylor is the first kid that we really know who will leave. He’s spent countless hours at our house with our kids over the last six years. It feels so strange to think that we won’t see him for two years. And that our kids are not that far behind him.
Rachel and Aaron got their AP test scores last week. Aaron got a 5 on his AP Human Geography, Rachel got a 5 on Government, a 3 on Statistics, and another 3 and 4 but I can’t remember which was which, English and something else. So yay! Our $500 investment in AP testing was worth it. Already the test scores have helped Rachel at BYU.
Bekah has spent every single free minute this week playing with her friends, and asking to wear lip stick.
